Lithium battery company CBAK New Energy announced the mass production of sodium-ion batteries

CBAK New Energy chief engineer Tian Xiujun introduced that the release of the "Sodium E1" is a large cylinder sodium-ion battery, which will be first applied in the field of portable energy storage. In the future, it will gradually expand to two-wheeled bicycles and motorcycles, multi-functional tricycles and low-speed four-wheelers, electric vehicles and other fields.

Sodium-ion batteries are batteries that use sodium salts as electrode materials. Compared with lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries have the advantages of abundant resource reserves, low cost and fast charging, but they lag behind lithium-ion batteries in terms of energy density.

At present, there are two main anode material routes for sodium ion batteries that are more common on the market, namely, the layered oxide route and the polyanion route. Among them, the layered oxide sodium ion battery has a higher energy density, and the polyanionic sodium ion battery has a relatively lower energy density, but the service life is longer.

"Sodium E1" selects a layered oxide route with an energy density of 140 Wh/kg. In terms of charging, "Sodium E1" fast charge for 10 minutes, the power can reach more than 90%. In addition, in the low temperature environment of minus 40℃, it can still maintain more than 85% discharge rate.
